SUMMARY: The Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for testing systems and procedures to ensure they meet technical standards and creating quality and safety documentation. QA Engineers are responsible for identifying technical issues and getting to the root of the problem, they proactively recommend solutions that will improve product durability and overall performance. *This role focuses on Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing Quality Engineering not IT Quality Engineering*
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and grow multi-level relationships with customers, suppliers, auditors, and other interested parties in support of organizational goals
- Ensure processes within QA are followed and documented; develop and implement improvements.
- Facilitate process definition, measurement, and improvements. Accountable for communication and collaboration in order to facilitate company-wide process improvement.
- Lead internal audits to document compliance with internal and external requirements; support external audits to verify compliance
- Lead Corrective and Preventive Action process to drive high-impact process improvements
- Lead Nonconformance process to ensure efficient control and disposition of nonconforming outputs
- Measure and report performance of the QA department in a way that meets all requirements and needs of internal and external customers
- Measure and report on performance of key improvement processes
- Support and report internal and external schedule/delivery compliance
- Inspect part as required to achieve operational goals. Perform all functions of the job while adhering to established quality policies and procedures

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

- Must have the knowledge and experience necessary for the position.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Software proficiency with Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, and web-based applications. Calypso is a bonus.
- Must be able to follow instructions and procedures and work with minimal supervision.
- Experience working within a quality management system (QMS)
- Deep knowledge of aerospace/defense industry quality standards (AS9100, GD&T, NADCAP experience is a plus).
- Strong understanding of risk-based quality inspection principles and PFMEA/Control Plan elements.
- Firm understanding of hands-on mechanical inspection and setup.
- Knowledge of CMM programming.
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-mix machining or manufacturing environments.
- Strong communication, both written and oral and problem-solving skills.
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and competing demands.
- Ability to multi-task, make decisions, and maintain accountability.
- Lean manufacturing training/experience is a plus.
- Hands-on ERP/MRP experience (experience with Epicor ERP) is a plus.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- BS in related discipline; may be substituted with commensurate experience.
- Minimum 7 years of directly related experience.
- Must have exposure in an AS9100 environment.
- Demonstrated competence with GD&T and inspection processes.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak and understand basic safety and manufacturing instructions.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers. Ability to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Authorization to work in the United States. To conform to U.S. export control regulations, you should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government.
